Church Landing: Steph & Andrew 4/26/08

by Meg on April 28, 2008

SMALL WORLD! I have to share this story! I filmed Steph and Andrew Cornwell’s wedding this past weekend at Church Landing and a gentleman came up to me… “are you Meg Simone? …  I had a crush on your mother in grade school!”…. WOW… here are the “small world details” he just emailed me. I edited for some clarity.

“Long before I went to school with Jenny Swisher (Megs mom), my mother Grace Johnson went to Salem State Teachers College with two close friends, Becky Patten (Megs Grandmother) and Christine Yagian. My mother graduated in 1936, and I believe the other two were the same year or a close one.

When I moved from Newburyport to Newbury in 1953 I entered a fourth grade class that included your mother (Megs Mom).  In grades 7 and 8 her mother (Megs Grandmother) taught us English and Social Studies and another teacher handled math and science.

My sister (two years older) kept in touch with Bill and Becky (Megs Grandparents) until she lost track of them. (They both passed, my grandmother a year ago TODAY)  In May 2006 she received your letter to the names found in your grandmother’s address book (alerting them of her passing), and was quite pleased to have been on the list. It was a thoughtful and kind thing for you to have done.

My sister sent me a copy, and I noticed that your email address was at a domain named after you, and I checked out your website. Since my niece Stephanie had announced that she and Andrew were going to be married, I sent her a note to suggest a possible videographer if they had not yet selected one. So we show up and there you are, and I had to drop that line on you.

Give your mother my regards and best wishes.

On the Move!

by Meg on April 25, 2008

I should have put this notice up last week as I’ve obviously been away from the blog. We are busy moving and setting up the new studio. Next week I will hopefully be posting clips from the Christo-Brennen wedding, and we head back to Church Landing Tomorrow for the Sharp-Cornwell wedding. Andrew is one of the Bar Tenders at CL and Jamie Christo sends high praise on his skill from her 3/8/08 wedding with over 30 that flew in from Ireland, you know Andrew was busy behind that bar!

See you all soon!

NH Wedding Videos! Archive clip of the month!

by Meg on April 18, 2008

As I approach the 8 year mark, I had to dig into the archives! You know this is old when I’ve grown and donated my hair to locks of love twice since this was created! Where does the time go. As I move into the new studio I would like to implement an archive clip of the month, so look out for past wedding trends, fun clips and more… what were popular colors over the last 8 years? Hummm….

3/8/08 Church Landing: "Beat It"

by Meg on April 14, 2008

Jamie and Lenny’s 3/8/08 wedding at Church Landing was a night NOBODY will ever forget! Over 30 flew in from Ireland, and probably 100 drove up from Boston and surrounding areas. These guys knew how to party!

Jamie and the Girls did an amazing job preforming “Beat It” - which made a sneak peak debut on YouTube for Jamie and her bidesmaids to see… but will remain off until we get the video done :) So Stay Tuned!

Dana Clemons: White Mountain Photography.A Wedding Gift Idea Not to be Missed!

by Meg on April 9, 2008

Dana Clemons from White Mountain Photography in Jackson, NH recently moved his gallery to the The Snowflake Inn, in Jackson… a perfect place to stop off if you are looking for a wedding gift for any couple who has visited the White Mountains or is getting married IN the White Mtns.

His prints also make great: House Warming Gifts, Anniversary or Birthday Presents, or “just because” they are visually spectacular! He even has pre-framed “grab & go” smaller prints if you are traveling, OR if you are going to be IN Jackson for a wedding and don’t want to have to travel with your gift, you can pick one when you arrive.  Gift Certificates Available :)

Dana’s work is primarily shot using transparency film for his fine art photography and using heavier medium format equipment….a rare craft because of Digital these days, and a skill to be commended.

With complete control over the entire process, he produces a fine art print using only quality archival ink and paper, tastefully framed, always under UV glass. Prints that will last a lifetime.

The complete collection of prints can be seen at the gallery. Thursday-Saturday, and Monday. Visitors are always welcome to come browse or “talk shop”. You might want to call him first at 603-383-4300, as he might be out pursuing his passion!

Looking for an incredible photographer? I sat at the table with 18 others!

by Meg on April 5, 2008

THURSDAY, APRIL 3rd was the Spring Luncheon for a very talented group of Women Wedding Photographers in Maine that Emilie Sommer of Emilie Inc. organizes. My main focus is wedding VIDEOgraphy but I love to network with other Photographers so they know there is a videographer right over the border here in NH. We met at the Roma Cafe in Portland. Here’s a group picture of us all taken with Emilie’s Camera. I’m not in the photo because I actually pushed the button on her camera for their group shot. I was just a guest so I volunteered. Great to meet everyone and hope to see you at a wedding soon :)
