Stone Mountain Arts Center - Taj Mahal Concert & Wedding Venue

Last night Dave and I went to see Taj Mahal in Concert at the Stone Mountain Arts Center in Brownfield, ME. Trust me, you would never think such an amazing venue would exist in Brownfield. “This is a humble 200 seat timber frame music hall nestled in the foothills of the White Mountains in little Brownfield Maine… Brownfield that literally burned to the ground in the forties…Brownfield that has a post office and a corner store filled with snowmobilers or canoers depending on what time of year it is …Brownfield where artists like Marty Stuart , Mary Chapin Carpenter, Béla Fleck, Capitol Steps, and Paula Poudstone might pass a trailer, a few cows, or the occasional loose horse on their way up the hill.” SMAC website.
So if you are looking for a really unique setting and venue to host your wedding or celebration, I highly recommend taking in a show at the Stone Mt. Arts Center to see what it’s all about and really feel what a magical place it is! We have also seen Bela Fleck there (awesome!) and I filmed an event for the White Mt. Dance Ensemble in December as well.

Happy Valentines Day!
I am so happy because today the new “Weddings and Parties” special suppliment came out with the Mt. Ear weekly newspaper. I was honored that they chose one of my photos for the front cover (Caitlin, my sisters, soon to be sister-in-laws, bouquet!), and quite an array of other images throughout, including the cake, and tent from Caitlins wedding.
The MacDonald-Dee wedding in Nahant received a full two page spread. Kaley had an amazing “look” for the wedding party, so I found it fitting they chose photos of their celebration to compliment an article called “The Perfect Match” discussing color, style, etc… I hope Kaley likes it! Here is a look at some of the photos from her wedding 8/11/07
Props to my friend Anne Skidmore who also had a variety showcasing her talents. Dave said, “why do I know those people”… I said, “Because Anne was their photographer and I did the video.” I love seeing photographs from weddings I filmed, to see how others capture the beauty of the day - everyone has a different eye and I really admire Annes work.

If I don’t get right back to you…
It’s been snowing like Mad here in the North Country… if you email or call about wedding video services and you don’t hear back from me within the hour, I am attempting to play outside…or build iceicle sculptures…or insulate my new studio… We haven’t had a winter like this in decades! Must take advantage! Afterall, that is why I live here….

Above - Dave dwarfed by snowbanks in driveway - Ice Sculptures, you should try it too! Tripple insulation and 21 outlets in the office work station. The refletive “bubble wrap” goes on the wall over a moisture barrier, which is over the blue jean insulation - no drafts will enter the dormer, plus raident heat in the floors and a great winter ridgeline view for inspiration! Can’t wait to have clients over to the new space! To see more details on that: http://19ridgeroad.blogspot.com

White Mountain Hotel North Conway NH Wedding - AJ & Kim: 10/27/07
AJ & Kim celebrated on a light rainey day this past fall. The weather made for stunning photography by Tim Shellmer, and the colors really popped on the video when we filmed outside. I personally enjoyed getting to know the new “Mr. & Mrs.” during the process and I’m so glad they frequently come up to the area so we can try to get Kim out on skis
CEREMONY: Jackson Community Church, Jackson NH
RECEPTION: The White Mountain Hotel, North Conway NH
PHOTOS: Tim Shellmer
HAIR: Debony’s
FLOWERS: Ruthies
DRESS: Madeleines Daughter
COLORS: Bridesmaids, purple/lilac - flowers, orange, green, purple. The colors came out great!
For those thinking of booking my services: I always ask you to provide the music a CD of songs you would like in your video. I also add in some ambient music as well, but this is reflection of you
Kim & AJ went on recommendation that Pojen Lee at the Jackson Community Church was a good place to tie the knot - they chose well
See previous post of “Pojen Lee forgets the rings” It was a great memory they won’t foget and will laugh over for years to come.
Jackson Falls and the Jackson Covered Bridge for Photos with Tim.
The “Anniversary Dance” - AJ pokes fun at Kim, and the winning couple has been married for 45 years! Think about it… 45 years!
In this clip you will see the party favors AJ & Kim made for all their guests - special familiy recepies! COOKIE MIX! A great idea! I know I thought of them everytime I took a bite of Chocolate Chip and Molassas (they gave me two jars)! Beth Dolan from the Sugarmaker Bakery in Bartlett, NH did the cake(s) with the help of Kim they had a little suprise for AJ - a 2nd cake… Key Lime filling! Yum!
The end to a perfect day - the clouds broke and the full moon came out!

Shawnee Peak Ski Area: 70th Anniversary 2/2/08
Dave and I had a blast getting to know Mike Berry, President of the National Ski Areas Association, talking about the different happenings and “booms” in resort towns across America. We also sat with Owner of Shawnee Peak, Chet Homer. It was another top notch night put on by the folks a SP! They really know how to help the community as they raised over $25,000 for Camp Sunshine! Thanks Melissa and Heather for the goodie bags - we all got 70th anniversary Shawnee Peak Horny Toad Fleece Vests!!
