DJ's + Live Bands

In a previous blog post, “I was booked, but…” , I referenced a bride, Kimberly Kidney (Hillis), who had inquired about my services. Low and behold I missed this unbelieveable event but she still took the time to share with me feedback on her experience with all vendors involved. I’ll jump start this promised wedding testimonal with the man who kept the party going all night long…. DJ Matt Spofford (He also did my sisters wedding). The wedding was at The Wentworth Inn, Jackson. More blog posts will roll out this week with feedback and photos of her local vendor picks. Thanks Kim for sharing! All photos by Lea J. Morgan Studio

Matt was more than fantastic….Scott and I planned a surprise first dance, a choreographed dance to Michael Jacksons ‘Beat it’ with my 2 brothers and my MOH….he was able to do exactly what we wanted, he played some cheesy song for the first 30 seconds, and then pretended to mess up the music, apologizing over the mike…..then Beat it came on loud and clear! He even brought costumes, and halfway through the night put on a mad scientist costume with flashlight glasses!!

I know from working with Matt at other functions, that he can be a fun and out going as you want, or as quiet and reserved as you need. He’s done a wide range of events and can cater to each couples needs. He’s fun to talk to and easy to get along with, so I highly recommend you get in touch :)

This is a sneak peak at Shawn + Kim Burke’s wedding at the Wentworth Inn, Jackson, NH. It was impossible to put the best moments into one minute. There were so many amazing things that happened pre-ceremony as Kim was getting ready, and we all know it was the most energetic and intense dance party on the planet!! Thanks to Ernie of LocoMotion DJ Productions. So, this is just a quick collage of some aspects of the day :) The rest…. Late August 2009 – stay tuned!

Big City Party Band

by Meg on April 16, 2009

Guests at the Boynton-Rush wedding danced the night away at the Mount Washington Resort, to a wide variety of hits by Boston Based, BIG CITY! If you are on the fence about live entertainment, BIG CITY’s FAQ section here, answers a lot of key questions. They have an amazing audio gallery you can listen to, here, and a diverse songlist of nearly 1,000 popular tunes. The clip below is edited, so this isn’t exactly what they do bridging between two songs, it’s just my attempt to show 2 songs in a short amount of time.

From the tasteful elegance of Swing, Jazz and Big Band music, to the higher-energy hits of Motown, Funk, Disco, Rock, Blues, Country, and Contemporary Dance favorites, BIG CITY blends these styles and more – in a fashion that captivates the most discerning ear and keeps the dance floor alive! – Excerpt from Big City Website

Kristina & Rahm  love techno, which made editing this piece hard to stay put! Netwon from Peak Entertainment Inc (PeakDJ.com) spun the ball room with high energy  requests from the bride and grooms list and the guests went wild!  If this doesn’t get you out of your computer seat dancing (by 1 min 44 sec), you don’t have the volume up loud enough! Thanks to DJ Newt, Kristina and Rahm had everyone on the dance floor… and the best part is – this is JUST the intro section of the dance party! Right after dinner! Wait for Part 2! DJ Pat Tecce at Church Landing

by Meg on November 12, 2008

The Walsh wedding at Church Landing is definitely the topic of my week. I’ve been getting great comments, but I also need to clarify to potential clients that I don’t have to be “this involved” in your wedding dance party – by watching this video it’s evident that Martine and Kevin’s friends LOVE to party, and we had SO SO SO much fun feeding off the energy in the room which was what they wanted captured. Kevin… great “fish” move! DJ Pat Tecce once again turned the party up a notch and I will be posting specific clips on his “funnest table” game in coming weeks.

Brooklyn represents at Church Landing! I can hear the crowd going wild and see the bartenders running to get yet another wrack of glasses to fill. WOW WOW WOW! You guys never slowed down! DJ Pat Tecce was right, you would have partied until 4:30 am (and maybe you did??!)  Martine was a stunning bride – her dress and the girls bridesmaids dress were unique and fitting for such a venue. Martine and Kevin made a CD for their guests and this song was on it – they also rocked out to it at the reception…  I could go on and on about this party!  So without further adooooooooo …

One Step Ahead put on a great show at Ryan + Amandas wedding at the Mount Washington Hotel. I loved their sound, their professionalism on the stage, and the way they engaged the audience.  You can’t go wrong with a 7 piece band, their sound was solid! You can see this both clips in HD if you go direct to Vimeo, click here!

They start off polite but pack a punch at the end! Modern Manners, a Cape Cod based cover band now in their 10th year together, put on a fabulous performance at the Mount Washington Resort for Cheryn + Mike’s 8/16/08 wedding. From a vendor to vendor standpoint, I felt they were extremely professional, really savvy about gauging the crowd dynamics (age ranges and music types) and from what you will see in the clip, they did a great job of keeping the guests out of their seats!

I’ve never seen a band close with such a high energy medly of Classic Rock (not 100% featured in this clip but  hope to post soon).

Jess + Dave chose The Swinging Johnsons to perform at their wedding 6/28/08 at the Mount Washington Hotel.  I think we had a few enthusiastic fans in the crowd….just a few!

I love this time of the year… people finalizing details and meeting vendors for upcoming summer and fall weddings. I love explaining what goes on with the edit process, and ultimately it’s up to you, as I can provide any style of coverage and any kind of editing… but the question came up: “How do you transition from one thing to another?” ie the ceremony to cocktail hour…. Andrew and Elizabeth Manning from a 12/29/07 Church Landing wedding gave the thumbs up for a few clips on the blog. Here are a few short clips, I love that they chose DMB for some of their music :) It was Powerful!
This is just a few seconds from the entire transition, but you can see it just takes a few key shots to bridge that time frame.

A few short clips of “Search Party” The Band from the Manning Wedding.

You can see they play a little bit of everything!

The Dance footage was important to Elizabeth & Andrew so while they didn’t do a “formal” cake cutting, I quickly captured what they were missing on the dance floor… is that a little 80’s music I hear in there! 867-5309…..

First Class Band out of Boston put on a rocking show for Stacy & Wess at the Mount Washington Hotel / Mount Washington Resort. Live bands add another dimension to a wedding, because they are also entertaining and fun to watch too! I was psyched to hear today’s hits as well as oldies but goodies. This is a small sample of First Class doing Black Eyed Peas. I featured a bit more of the band for this web clip so you can actually see them perform too.

DJ Pat Tecce Brings Down the House!

by Meg on September 11, 2007

SMALL WORLD! Little did I know that DJ Pat Tecce is actually the cousin of Kaley MacDonald (MacDonald-Dee wedding below in Nahant) he was not there but I did meet up with him at Andrea and Jimmy’s wedding 9/2 at Church Landing. He does such a great job getting the guests up onto the dance floor, interactive and fun with the tables (by name if you have a theme), but unobtrusive, Pat Tecce is the real deal! Mixing albums on site! Here is a sample of two parts of a wedding he did last summer. Check back as I will be posting a clip from my most recent wedding with Pat over the next week.
